Baša Furmint 2020
Furmint 2020 from Baša Vino is a powerful, full-bodied orange wine from Fruška Gora, Serbia, made from 100% Furmint. Deep golden amber in color, it combines high acidity, pronounced tannins, and layers of savory, herbal, and mineral character.
The aromatics are wonderfully unusual, showing pine, cucumber, mint, chamomile, nuts, saffron, and juniper. On the palate, yellow citrus and fresh herbs meet earthy spice, firm tannins, and vibrant acidity. Deeply savory and mineral-driven, it has the structure and complexity to appeal to serious red-wine drinkers.
The grapes are organically and biodynamically farmed and spend 11 days on their skins, followed by spontaneous fermentation and malolactic fermentation without temperature control. The wine ages for 24 months on lees in oak and Serbian acacia barrels, with extended bâtonnage adding richness and texture. Bottled unfined, unfiltered, and without added SO₂, natural sediment is part of the experience.
Decanting is recommended.
