Harsh 2023 is an expressive dry white from Somló, Hungary, made from 100% Hárslevelű, an aromatic Hungarian grape known for its floral character and beautiful texture. Medium-bodied and full of personality, this wine lands somewhere between a classic white and a light skin-contact wine.
Pale gold with green reflections, Harsh opens with enticing aromas of mango, honey, flowers, fresh grass, and subtle graham cracker. The palate is tart and crisp, with layers of tropical and floral flavors complemented by gentle minerality and a refreshing, slightly grippy texture.
Made from organic and biodynamically farmed grapes, this is a low-intervention wine with plenty of character. About 25% of the grapes ferment on their skins for two weeks in an open vat, while the remaining 75% are added through whole-cluster pressing. The wine is then aged for 10 months, partly in used Hungarian oak and partly in porous vessels, adding complexity while preserving its freshness.
